  • The personalized, differentiated approach used by Planted Seed Montessori School inherently supports the development of intrinsic motivation by:

    • Promoting Autonomy:
Students make choices about their learning paths, fostering a sense of independence and self-direction.

    • Focusing on Mastery:
Allowing learners to progress at their own pace ensures they experience genuine achievement and competence, building internal satisfaction and a growth mindset.

  • We focus on personalized education for students in Grades 1 to 6. Central to the Montessori approach is individualized learning, where teachers observe each student's strengths, interests, and learning patterns to create a stimulating and enriching environment tailored to their developmental needs. Lessons are delivered one-on-one or in small groups, allowing students to progress through the curriculum at a pace appropriate for their individual development. This approach supports the development of intrinsic motivation.

Montessori emphasizes a balance between school and home life, encouraging time for family activities and unstructured play.

  • We are excited to offer a Tuition Assistance Program. More information can be found in the admission section of the website.

  • No, we are unable to provide before or after school care.

  • We do not have a uniform, but we do stress the importance of being comfortable for learning and having the appropriate clothing and gear for the weather as we spend so much time outside.

  • The facility has a spacious parking lot, which will make it easy for caregivers to park while dropping off or collecting their child. Family members are welcome to come inside at drop off and pick up.

From time to time, we plan for ‘alternative pickup’ locations around Guelph to support our ability to offer various cultural, outdoor and experiential programming options.

  • On average, students spend 2-3.5 hours per day outside. This number will fluctuate based on extreme weather, field trips, and whether it’s warm enough to eat outside.

  • Yes! We love it when family members get involved in field trips and special activities at school or come and teach us something new!

  • Drop-off is at 8:30 AM and pick-up is at 3:30 PM.

  • No.

  • Please see Outdoor and Experiential Learning and our Lower and Upper Elementary Curriculum pages for detailed explanations of how nature/outdoor and experiential learning is woven into the program.

  • A common refrain in outdoor education is, "There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing choices." That said, during heavy rain or extreme cold, we will move the program into the gymnasium or classroom.

  • We have found that students generally do very well transitioning into and out of our school. In addition to the curriculum, we also focus on building independent and learning skills, which really help with the transition.
When we know that a child is transitioning out of Montessori education, we work with them to prepare for a smooth academic transition.
